HealThrive Recovery acknowledges that our office, located at 3638 Central Avenue NE, Unit B, Minneapolis, MN 55418, resides on the traditional homelands of the Dakota and Ojibwe (Anishinaabe) people, who have been the Indigenous stewards of this region since time immemorial. The Dakota people built dynamic societies, maintained balance with the natural world, and practiced sustainable ways of living that continue to inspire care for the land today.
Following a series of treaties in the 19th century—many of which were signed under duress or later broken—the United States government forcibly removed the Dakota people from their homeland, most notably following the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862. Despite this violent displacement and ongoing impacts of colonization, the Dakota and Ojibwe people remain present and resilient. Today, they are part of sovereign nations such as the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community, Prairie Island Indian Community, and other Dakota and Indigenous communities throughout Minnesota.
We recognize the lasting impacts of colonization and affirm our responsibility to acknowledge and resist the erasure of Indigenous histories. At HealThrive Recovery, we are committed to fostering a space of healing, justice, and reconciliation. We honor the sovereignty of all Indigenous nations and the Indigenous people who continue to live and work on this land.
We invite our clients, colleagues, and community members to join us in learning about and supporting Indigenous communities, advocating for equity, and engaging in practices that contribute to meaningful healing and justice.
